What is the general treatment offered to the coronavirus infected patients? How to increase the recovery rate?
The patients confirmed with a
positive test for COVID-19, and they were immediately isolated and treated cautiously.
(Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-nCoV-2) or 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) or COVID-19)
Official General Treatments
World Health Organization (WHO) provided directions and guidelines to follow to all the nations. The precautionary medications are derived from the treatments of infections involving similar symptoms. The following are the details of the treatment for different categories of severity.
- Management of mild COVID-19: symptomatic treatment and monitoring
- Management of severe COVID-19: oxygen therapy and monitoring
- Management of severe COVID-19: treatment of co-infections
- Management of critical COVID-19: acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
- Management of critical illness and COVID-19: prevention of complications
- Management of critical illness and COVID-19: septic shock
- Adjunctive therapies for COVID-19: corticosteroids
Unofficial Treatments
The so-called unofficial treatments, like traditional and logical medications, are practiced by everyone out-of-anxiety due to lack of standard medicine or cure. China is the first nation with an effectively flattened curve and a higher recovery rate from COVID-19 infections. However, several countries are struggling to flatten the curve.
The traditional Chinese medicines benefit 90% of cases to turn back. The traditional medicines include herbal soups, Shuanghuanglian liquid, and big pot soup. Also, tai chi, acupuncture, and massaging are practiced to build the mental health of infected patients. Since the
psychological effects are directly related to the immune system and associated disease prevention process.
Mostly, Chinese medicines develop their
immune system to recover with few mild effects left out due to age, vegetation, ethnicity, and severity of the infections. However, the aged people were not recovered successfully using these traditional medicines.
The countries with their traditional background followed their medicines. Unfortunately, WHO not recognized due to the standardization issues. Although, everyone expects cure rather than standards during emergencies.
Recovery
At present, recovery is confirmed through the following examination after the incubation period of 14 days from the infection date.
- Absence of common symptoms like dry cough, fever, tiredness, and difficulty in breathing
- Absence of the virus in the respiratory tract (RT-PCR)
- Clear chest radiograph (CT-Scan)
However, all the recovered patients were under surveillance to prevent further spreading.
Generally,
80% of cases recovered without any special treatment; only a few cases were unable to recover from the infections. Older people and patients associated with other diseases or medications like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease are more vulnerable and severely affected by COVID-19.
From the available recovery data, we can ensure that there is a possibility for a higher recovery rate through standard and traditional treatments. China showed the highest recovery rate of 91%, followed by South Korea (41%), and Iran (36%). The Chinese followed conventional treatments and traditional medicines to achieve the feat.
