Janta Curfew: The facts to know and expectations to count on!
How will it help the fight against pandemic?
What are the benefits of Janta curfew?
Janata curfew
Janata curfew on
March 22, 2020, from 7 am to 9 pm, a plan by the Indian Government against the spreading and controlling of the novel coronavirus.
Janata curfew stands out from other curfews, which are generally implemented by any rulers. Janata curfew is stated as the curfew implemented by the people, on the people, for the people. It is indeed significant to be alert and vigilant to avoid unnecessary rustles and
anxiety of the pandemic.
The logic behind Janata curfew
Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, says,
“Determination (संकल्प) and discipline (संयम) could help to act better against the pandemic.”
Also, he requested the citizens of India to pursue Janata Curfew on March 22, 2020, from 7 am to 9 pm.
Prime Minister of India expects, “The success and experience of this Janata curfew of 14 h would help to equip us to defeat and face the challenges of coronavirus in the coming days.”
Expected benefits of Janata curfew
As a leader, Prime Minister of India expects the success of Janata Curfew to control the spreading of coronavirus. For a common civilian of India, what are the expected benefits from the Janata Curfew? Janata Curfew is declared for 14 h only, but this time duration is the active period between 7 am to 9 pm. If we calculate wisely, it includes the passive curfew time of 22 h. So, a total of 36 h (14 h active and 22 h passive) would hopefully be much effective time for the self-diminishing of the coronavirus.
The 36 h of quality time for a family under a single roof might be quite valued and appreciable as this event is going to be experienced by most of the Indian citizens (~75%) on March 22. The assumed benefits we can expect from restricting 36 h of social distancing are:
- Knowing our strength
- Test-run of digital future
- Family union
- Quality time
Knowing our strength
“Unity is strength.”
The population of 1.3 billion people doing one action for 36 h would be one of the most significant achievements for a developing country like India. Every citizen of India must be proud to do the same thing by self-volunteering without any control or rules. Whether the action is good or bad, the mass conduct could tremble the world. Hope everyone remembers the civilian protests for
Jallikattu (marina beach incident) in 2017. Janata curfew, the entire nation’s lockdown, could help us to visualize the problem and eradicate it soon without delay.
Test-run of digital future
“Old is gold.”
The generations age (as of 2019) is classified as Silent (74-91), Boomers (55-73), Generation X (39-54), Millennials (23-38), and Generation Z (7-22). The Silent, Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials have experienced the old age of the pre-digital period and are presently living in the new digital era. Living in a confined place for 36 h with all the digital accessories will impart a new experience for the Indian citizens. As we are approaching the peak phase of the digital age, we might follow the near future of living in a closed space but connected with the whole world, virtually. Generation X is lucky enough to see the future as a trial run on March 22, 2020. Although, this 36 h may not help us to experience all the aspects of the big future of digital age in a single glimpse (look at Human extinction).
Family union
“Home is where the heart is.”
Janata curfew is the best platform for being with family members. No movement outside, everything will be arranged beforehand whatever we need for the day. Everyone in the family would have an excellent option to discuss many things and sort out.
Quality time
“Time is more valuable than money.”
We may know better about the importance of time in our life. Apart from our routine actions, we can find the quality time during the 14 h Janata curfew. The way we utilize our quality time could help us to eradicate many of our problems.
Outlook
The Prime Minister of India requests everyone instead of declaring the curfew to amend the Janata curfew. It is the duty of every Indian citizen to observe this and abide by the instructions for our safety.
Eradication of coronavirus may or may not be successful, but the mass execution of this self-disciplined action by 1.3 billion people of India will definitely be the best example for the world.
